Question #2:

Where can I find distributors or importers for the products that I represent?

Hi, I'm starting a brokerage firm or an agency that represent products from different industries and manufacturers. I already have catalogs for my target market. I have lists of existing local buyers (mostly retailers).
But what I want to know is where can I get additional markets abroad? I mean, I have already tried contacting distributors and it seems that they are very hard to find in the internet or there seems to be a limited number of them? I don't know.
Some of them already have selections of products and they themselves are product representatives of the products that they distribute.

Where can I get the right people to talk to? To distribute the products that I represent. And since it is abroad, I need purchases and not consignment agreements.

I hope you understand what I mean, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Question #3:

what is the formula for calculating my required minimum distribution on the IRA I inherited?

I inherited an IRA when my brother died. I told the brokerage firm managing that IRA that I wanted the lifetime option rather than the 5-year option for taking the money out of the IRA but I have no idea how to calculate the minimum distribution amount that I'm supposed to take out every year. I know there must be a formula or something and I can't afford a tax lawyer.

Question #4:

Who is ready for the funniest joke tonight, STAR if you like it?

These 4 pals go out to play golf one sunny morning. One is detained in the clubhouse, and the other three are discussing their children while walking to the first tee.

"My son BIll," says one, "has made quite a name for himself in the home-building industry. He began as a carpenter, but now owns his own design and construction firm. He's so successful in fact, in the last year he was able to give a good friend a brand new home as a gift."

The second man, no to be out done, tells how his son began his career as a car salesman, but now owns a multi-line dealership. "George is so successful, in fact, in the last six months he gave his friend two brand new cars as a gift."

The third man's son, Albert, has worked his way up through a stock brokerage, and in the last few weeks has given a good friend a large stock portfolio as a gift.

As the fourth man arrives at the tee, another tells him that they have been discussing their progeny and asks what line his son is in.

"To tell the truth, I'm not very pleased with how my son turned out," he replies. "For 15 years, Frank's been a hairdresser, and I've just recently discovered he's gay. However, on the bright side, he must be good at what he does because his last three boyfriends have given him a brand new house, two cars, and a big pile of stock certificates."

Question #7:

If the brokerage fee for investing is $15,do I have to pay that everytime I add money into my stock investment?

Say I have $1000 to invest in stock.

Now suppose I want to invest $500 in one stock, $500 in another.

My brokerage trading fee is $15, so I assume that means I have to pay $30 to begin these 2 investments (I'm not actually sure, I don't yet understand brokerage fees)

If i want to add $100 dollars to each investment in a months time, will I have to pay another $30?

Question #8:

Is the brokerage rate for 'trading' = Brokerage fee for 'buying' stocks?

I'm looking at starting an online investing account. I have started doing some research, but I'm trying to understand how much I will be required to pay when I first invest in a stock.

I'm looking at starting with about $1000, and slowly building that up over the year, as I get paid monthly.

I have looked at 2 sites, www.belldirect.com.au and www.invest.etrade.com.au

The brokerage rates for etrade are (approx):
A$32.95 per trade,

The brokerage rates for belldirect are (approx):
$15 or 0.1%, whichever is greater.

I understand there are other costs involved in stock investment, but I just want a little help understanding what defines a 'trade'.

It appears bellditect is much cheaper and I'll probably go with them..

Anyhow, GETTING TO MY QUESTION:

If I want to invest my $1000 in stocks for a company, do I have to pay for the abovementioned brokerage fee when I 'buy' the stock, or does that only apply if I choose to 'trade' the stock for another later on?

Thanks for your help.

Question #13:

What process should I follow to ship personal effects from Thailand to the US?

Background Info: My wife is a Thai citizen (permanent US resident), and I am a US citizen. We got married last year, and we visited family in Thailand this summer. While we were there, we purchased a piece of furniture for our home in the US. We had it shipped via a Thai shipping company, and filled out whatever forms the shipper gave us including cost of the item, etc...This was at the end of July.

Situation: Yesterday, a US cargo company called me saying their agent notified them of our impending delivery. She then went on to ask if we needed assistance with brokerage/clearance... and mentioned a possible $5,000 fine.

Wow! I don't know whether to think she is trying to get us to pay for unnecessary services, or if I'm in a bit over my head.

Bottom line question(s): I read on the CBP website (customs and border patrol), that there's a CBP Form 3299 "Declaration For Free Entry of Unaccompanied Articles"... would that apply to our circumstance? If not, can you please advise as to what forms, if any, we need to file? Thanks so much in advance! :-)

How can an individual investor play an expected appreciation of the Renminbi?

I am an individual investor. I am near certain that something has to give on the Renminbi / U.S. Dollar exchange rate, especially in the long term, say 10 years. I know there are Chinese Government imposed currency controls meant to defeat speculating in the Renminbi, but I wonder if there are tangential investments that might match the movement over time. I'm interested in taxed account investment and IRA-brokerage account investing. Thanks.

Question #20:

Broker Commission Details?

Hello,
I have signed up with an online brokerage company and they say the online order commission is 6.95$ + 0.75 per contracts. What does 0.75$ stand for?
For example:
IVN STOCK = 16$
Quantity = 1000
I pay (16 * 1000) + 6.95$ ?? or ???

Thanks in advance
I am actually starting. Thats why I ask here to know what i don't know.
I didn't know about contracts, but now i know.
I guess I don't need to worry about that +0.75$ commission unless I buy stocks with contracts, am I right??
