My employment with Citi in Reno, NV was eliminated. My choice was to relocate with Citi to Oregon or take a severance package. I chose to relocate, but my mortgage in NV was upside down by $150k or so due to the housing crisis. I short sold my home and the settlement was accepted by my mortgage company (also Citi). I was never once late on my mortgage payments, nor any other creditor in my lifetime.
