WHILE I WAS STANDING IN LINE TO CHECK OUT, MY FRIEND DECIDED TO SHOP LIFT BATTERIES TOTALING $11.94. AFTER PURCHASING MY ITEM, WE WERE STOPPED BY THE STORE'S SECURITY WHILE LEAVING THE STORE. AFTER MY FRIEND AND I WERE QUESTIONED, MY FRIEND ADMITTED TO SHOP LIFTING. THE SECURITY GUARDS DID NOT FIND ME AT FAULT AND ALLOWED ME TO LEAVE. HOWEVER, I DECIDED TO STAY AND SUPPORT MY FRIEND. THE POLICE ARRIVED AND WE BOTH WERE ARRESTED FOR THE SAME CRIME. SINCE I DID NOT SHOP LIFT, I PLED NOT GUILTY TO THE CHARGE OF RETAIL THEFT. AT THE COURT HEARING I WAS ABLE TO SPEAK WITH THE ARRESTING OFFICER AND THE STORES SECURITY GUARD. THEY BOTH DECIDED THAT SINCE I DID NOT COMMIT THE CRIME OF RETAIL THEFT THEY WOULD DROP THE CHARGE TO A DISORDERLY CONDUCT. I PLED GUILTY TO DISORDERLY CONDUCT.I WAS VERY COOPERATIVE AND COMPLIANT WITH THE POLICE AND SECURITY GUARDS THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE INCIDENT.
