Date: January 26, 2011 Category: Financial Type: Bankruptcy Disposition: Discharged Broker Comment: I WOULD LIKE TO OFFER EXPLANATION TO MY BANKRUPTCY DISCHARGE. THE BANKRUPTCY WAS NOT DUE TO ANY KIND OF FINANCIAL MISMANAGEMENT. MY HOME NOR MY CAR WERE NOT INCLUDED, AND PRIOR TO MY BANKRUPTCY I HAD A 780 FICO SCORE. I HAVE ALWAYS AND CONTINUE TO MAKE ALL OF MY FINANCIAL PAYMENTS ON TIME, KEEP MY FINANCES IN ORDER, AND WILL CONTINUE TO WORK TOWARDS REBUILDING MY CREDIT SCORE BACK INTO THE RANGE IT WAS PRIOR TO FILING. THE DECISION TO FILE BANKRUPTCY WAS VERY DIFFICULT, BUT THE RIGHT DECISION FOR MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN AT THE TIME.THE STRESS OF THE DEBT WAS TAKING A PHYSICAL AND MENTAL TOLL ON ME. I INITIALLY WORKED WITH MY ATTORNEY TO FIRST TRY TO DO A DEBT CONSOLIDATION BECAUSE I TRULY WANTED TO PAY BACK AS MUCH AS I COULD, BUT THE HARRASSMENT FROM THE CREDITORS WAS TOO HARD TO DEAL WITH. THE DEBT THAT WAS DISCHARGED WAS DUE TO MANY FACTORS. I WAS DIVORCED AND A SINGLE PARENT OF 2 BOYS, I HAD DEBT FROM MY MARRIAGE THAT I COULD NOT PAY OFF, AND MY CHILD SUPPORT FOR ONE OF MY SONS WAS STOPPING, WHICH TOOK AWAY A LARGE PORTION OF INCOME. I HAD ALSO WORKED SEVERAL YEARS IN THE MORTGAGE INDUSTRY PRIOR TO GETTING INTO BANKING, AND MY INCOME BECAME VERY UNSTABLE DURING THE MORTGAGE CRISIS. I HAD DEPLETED MY SAVINGS AND AT TIMES HAD TO USE MY CREDIT CARDS FOR MONTHLY EXPENSES. WHEN I FINALLY TRANSITIONED INTO BANKING, THE BONUS STRUCTURE OF MY BANK WAS CUT DOWN DRASTICALLY 2 MONTHS AFTER STARTING MY POSITION WHICH TOOK AWAY ANY OPTIONS FOR MAKING EXTRA PAYMENTS ON MY DEBT. I DID NOT FALL BEHIND ON MY PAYMENTS (ALTHOUGH I WAS ADVISED TO STOP MY PAYMENTS ONCE I STARTED THE BK PAPERWORK), BUT THE MINIMUM PAYMENTS WERE VERY LARGE, AND I COULD NOT PAY ENOUGH TO BRING THE BALANCES DOWN TO THE GET THE DEBT PAID OFF. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO NOTE THAT MY CREDIT IS CURRENTLY SHOWING MY CAR WITH BECU WAS INCLUDED IN MY BANKRUPTCY, BUT THAT IS NOT ACCURATE. I DO HAVE THE PAPERWORK STATING THAT MY CAR AND HOME WERE RE-AFFIRMED AND WOULD BE MORE THAN WILLING TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DOCUMENTATION UPON REQUEST. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLAIN MY CIRCUMSTANCES.

I AM AN EXTREMELY HONEST, RESPONSIBLE, LAW ABIDING CITIZEN, AND WORK EVERY DAY TO LIVE MY LIFE WITH THE UPMOST INTEGRITY. I AM A CHRISTIAN, AND LIVE STRONGLY BY MY CORE CHRISTIAN VALUES IN BOTH MY PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE. I AM ACTIVE AS A VOLUNTEER AND LEADER IN MY CHURCH, AND FOR SEVERAL YEARS HAVE GIVEN MY TIME TO THE KING COUNTY SEXUAL ASSAULT RESOURCE CENTER AND THE PIKE PLACE SENIOR CENTER. I WAS ALSO VERY ACTIVE IN MY BOYS SCHOOLS AND PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATIONS. I AM AN HONEST, RESPONSIBLE INDIVIDUAL AND I TAKE MY ROLE AS A FINANCIAL ADVISOR VERY SERIOUSLY. I AM TRULY SORRY AND EMBARRASSED FOR MY PAST MISTAKES, BUT HAVE SPENT THE PAST 24 YEARS OF MY LIFE SINCE THAT TIME BUILDING A RESPECTFUL HONEST LIFE FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. THE MISTAKES I HAVE MADE IN THE PAST ARE NOT A REFLECTION OF WHO I AM AS AN INDIVIDUAL TODAY.I TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN THE TIME AND HARD WORK I HAVE PUT INTO BUILDING MY CAREER. BECOMING A LICENSED BANKER IS NOT ONLY AN INTRICATE PART OF MY CURRENT JOB ROLE, AND LIVELIHOOD FOR MY FAMILY, BUT IT IS A VITAL GROWTH STEP ON MY BANKING CAREER PATH. I TRULY HOPE THAT THE FOOLISH MISTAKE FROM MY PAST, WILL NOT STAND IN THE WAY OF MY FUTURE WITH UNION BANK. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLAIN MY CIRCUMSTANCES.
