DURING THIS TIME, I WAS IN PERFECT FINANCIAL STATE, WITH IMMACULATE CREDIT AND STEADY INCOME. I WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE A CHICAGO CONDO, WHICH AT THE TIME WAS VALUED AT $279,920. HOWEVER, IN 2008 THE HOUSING MARKET CRASHED CAUSING THE PROPERTY TO WORTH HALF ITS VALUE. DURING THIS TIME, I WAS ALSO IN BETWEEN CAREERS, DUE TO A CAREER ENDING INJURY CAUSING ME TO RETIRE FROM PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY. I MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO KEEP UP WITH THE MORTGAGE, FOUND RENTERS, TOOK OUT MORE LOANS AND CASH ADVANCES TO PAY THE MONTHLY PAYMENT. HOWEVER AFTER SEVERAL FAILED ATTEMPTS IT WAS IN MY BEST INTEREST TO FILE FOR CHAPTER 7 BANKRUPTCY. TODAY I AM ALMOST 2 YEARS DISCHARGED FROM BANKRUPTCY AND CONTINUE TO STEADILY BUILD CREDIT.
