I WALKED TO AN AUTO DEALERSHIP I HAD RECENTLY WORKED FOR AND IGNORANTLY TOOK A CAR, INTENDING FIX MY OWN CAR AND RETURN THE CAR I HAD TAKEN BEFORE ANYONE NOTICED. THE EVENT WAS REPORTED VERY EARLY THE NEXT MORNING. THIS WAS A VERY EMBARRASSING AND HUMBLING EVENT FOR ME. BECAUSE I WAS A FIRST-TIME OFFENDER, I WAS OFFERED A DIVERSION PROGRAM. THIS MEANT THAT I COULD PAY A FINE AND WORK COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS IN EXCHANGE FOR A DISMISSAL. I COMPLETED ALL REQUIREMENTS AND THE CASE WAS DISMISSED BY THE COURT IN AUGUST OF 2001. I HAVE BEEN IN NO TROUBLE SINCE, MEANING I HAVE NO CRIMINAL HISTORY AT ALL. I AM GRATEFUL THAT I WAS PROVIDED WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO CLEAR THE CASE.
