THE LENDER SOLD OUR SECOND MORTGAGE TO A SERVICING COMPANY. THE VALUE OF OUR HOME WAS LESS THAN THE AMOUNT OWED AND SO THE SERVICING COMPANY OFFERED US THE OPPORTUNITY TO SETTLE THE SECOND MORTGAGE FOR LESS THAN THE AMOUNT OWED (THE FIRST AND THE SECOND MORTGAGE WERE THE ORIGINAL LOANS FROM WHEN WE PURCHASED THE HOUSE). WE BORROWED MONEY FROM FAMILY IN ORDER TO SETTLE THE SECOND MORTGAGE. IT MADE THE HOME LOAN PAYMENT MUCH MORE MANAGEABLE AND WE HAVE SINCE RECOVERED FROM OUR FINANCIAL SITUATION.
