IN THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2006 I OPENED A BRANCH OF A MORTGAGE BROKERAGE COMPANY, AND AS THE HOUSING AND THE MORTGAGE INDUSTRIES BEGAN TO COLLAPSE IN 2007 IT BECAME INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT FOR THE BUSINESS TO SUSTAIN ITSELF. IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE EMPLOYEES WERE PAID AND THE BUSINESS ITSELF PAID ITS CREDITORS, I TOOK ON MORE AND MORE PERSONAL DEBT. I BELIEVED THE BUSINESS WOULD BE ABLE TO WEATHER THE DIFFICULT TIMES AND WOULD EVENTUALLY BE ABLE TO PAY BACK MY PERSONAL FINANCING; HOWEVER, IN THE FALL OF 2008 IT BECAME CLEAR THAT THE ECONOMY WAS ONLY SLIDING DEEPER INTO RECESSION AND MY BUSINESS (AS A MORTGAGE COMPANY) WAS ESCPECIALLY WEAK AND VULNERABLE. I MADE THE DECISION AT THAT TIME TO FILE FOR BANKRUPTCY PROTECTION.
