He paid us enough rent to cover our expenses but the property lost significant value in the financial crisis. When he died in 2012 the property value had not recovered. We never intended it to be an investment property so we had to sell it. We qualified for a program that allowed us to do a short sale and prevented Bank of America from coming back to us for the loan deficiency. My OSJ was fully aware of my family situation, the fact we had to do a short sale, and that we got approved for a special short sale program. Within 30 days of the close of escrow I documented the sale using the OBA tool on LPL Financial's website (on 12/5/2013) and was under the impression this information would be updated to my U4. This apparently did not occur.
